And while it doesn't always come and go, it happens to get worse during the winter months-as if freezing temperatures weren't enough to complicate our lives.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the white flakes we are used to, dandruff on the hair can also cause other symptoms, such as greasy patches on the scalp (<strong>oily dandruff<\/strong>) and tingling (<strong>dry dandruff<\/strong>). Fortunately, it is a relatively common annoyance and easy to treat: let's find out how.<\/p>\n<h4>What is dandruff<\/h4>\n<p>La <strong>dandruff on hair<\/strong> is a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis: it is a common condition that causes the <strong>desquamation of the scalp<\/strong>. When you don't wash your skin properly, sebum builds up on your skin and can cause dandruff. This does not necessarily mean that you are not washing enough. It could be that you are not using an adequate dose of shampoo, or that the shampoo is not strong enough to break the barrier of grease that causes dandruff on the hair.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 30px;\"><span class=\"dropcap\">\u2714<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 20px;\">You have dry skin<\/span> (dry dandruff). Dry skin is also one of the <strong>causes<\/strong> most common of the <strong>dandruff<\/strong>. If this is the cause of your dandruff, it may get worse in winter. In fact, during the cold months the skin becomes even drier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 30px;\"><span class=\"dropcap\">\u2714<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 20px;\">It is an overgrowth of yeast<\/span> Malassezia is a fungus (similar to yeast) that lives on the scalp and skin of all people, feeding on oils and sebum. In some cases, there is hyper-proliferation of the fungus, which can result in episodes of dandruff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 30px;\"><span class=\"dropcap\">\u2714<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 20px;\">You are allergic to something<\/span> The cause of your dandruff could also be an allergy or hyper-sensitivity to the products you use to care for your hair. If you notice any kind of scalp irritation, aggravated by itching or pain, after using a particular product, discontinue it and try to see how it goes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 30px;\"><span class=\"dropcap\">\u2714<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 20px;\">Seborrheic dermatitis<\/span> Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic condition that affects not only the scalp, but also other areas of the body where oil glands are present. This condition is characterized by dandruff and redness of the scalp, and appears similar to other common skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, or an allergic rush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"h4\">Risk factors<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, the <strong>causes of dandruff<\/strong> are very varied.
